In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Daughter Jena Anne Schlosser
The Bees Knees Bistro community is mourning the heartbreaking and unexpected loss of co-owner Jena Anne Schlosser, whose sudden passing over the weekend has left family, friends, coworkers, and loyal customers devastated.
According to those close to the family, Jena tragically died from an apparent drug overdose. News of her passing has shaken the Wallingford community, where she was widely known not only as a business owner but also as a warm and caring presence whose kindness touched countless lives.
Jena was a beloved daughter to Johnna Dunleavy Schlosser and Jim Schlosser, a devoted sister, treasured niece, and loyal friend to many. At the heart of her life was the restaurant she helped build alongside her favourite aunties, Patti Schlosser and Catherine “Cathie” Muzio.
Together, the trio helped make The Bees Knees Bistro a cherished local gathering place known for its welcoming atmosphere, comforting breakfasts and lunches, and the genuine warmth shown to every customer who walked through the doors.
For many residents, the restaurant was more than just a place to eat — it was a reflection of the love and personality Jena brought into the community every day.
“She had the kindest soul and the brightest smile,” one community member shared. “Jena made everyone feel like family the second they walked in.”
Another tribute read, “The Bees Knees Bistro wasn’t just successful because of the food. It was because of Jena’s heart. She poured herself into that place and into the people around her.”
Friends described her as someone who cared deeply for others, someone who could lift spirits with a conversation, a laugh, or a simple act of kindness. Many said her energy and compassion became part of the identity of the restaurant itself.
In the wake of the tragedy, The Bees Knees Bistro has temporarily closed as the Schlosser family privately grieves the unimaginable loss of someone they loved so deeply.
Messages of support, flowers, and tributes have continued pouring in across social media as customers and friends share memories of Jena and the impact she had on their lives.
“This hurts beyond words,” one long-time customer wrote. “She was part of this town’s heart.”
Others have also used the tragedy to encourage compassion and awareness surrounding addiction and mental health struggles, reminding people that many battles are fought silently.
At this time, memorial service and funeral arrangements have not yet been publicly announced. The family is expected to share additional details in the coming days.
Though her life ended far too soon, Jena Anne Schlosser leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, friendship, and community that will continue to live on inside the walls of The Bees Knees Bistro and in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Our hearts break yet again.
