A major law enforcement response is underway in Bellevue after reports of an armed man near the Redmond-Bellevue border prompted road closures, a SWAT deployment, and a lockdown at Overlake Plaza on Sunday.
According to the Bellevue Police Department, officers responded to reports of a man with a gun running near Crimson Coward and the nearby Mayuri area close to NE 20th Street.
Witnesses reported seeing a large police presence rapidly converge on the area as officers searched for the armed individual. Authorities later confirmed that SWAT units had arrived at the scene as the situation was considered dangerous and ongoing.
Police have closed several streets near the incident area while investigators and tactical teams continue operations. Officials are urging residents, shoppers, and motorists to stay away from the scene until further notice.
As a precaution, Bellevue Overlake Plaza was reportedly placed on lockdown during the active response.
Videos and photos shared online showed heavily armed officers, emergency vehicles, and tactical units positioned throughout the area as authorities worked to secure the scene and locate the suspect.
At this time, police have not confirmed whether anyone has been injured or whether the suspect has been taken into custody.
The investigation remains active, and authorities continue to ask the public to avoid the area while law enforcement agencies work to safely resolve the situation.
More details are expected to be released as the incident develops.

I was working in the area and saw the possible suspect run past my location and a sheriff run in pursuit a few moments later.
